Announcements for the Week of 2/17/25
Join Us for Sunday Worship, February 23 at 10:00 AM
Pastor Al will be preaching from Exodus 28:1-5; 29:1-9, 44-46. “The Priests: Leaders of Worship, Forgiveness, and Mission”
Last Week, Rev. Dr. Ben Lowe Preached on “Living Out the Biblical Call to Creation Care”
Ben focused his time on 2 related questions:
How does God’s Word help us to frame and understand the climate and environmental crisis that we face today?
How then can we live out our calling to care for this whole community of creation of which we are a part?
If you want to re-listen to Ben Lowe’s sermon (and any other previous sermons), you can do so on our church’s website.

Our Time with Ben Lowe and Redeemer Community Church Last Sunday
Hello, Grace friends!
On behalf of Redeemer Community Church, I want to thank you for your gracious hospitality yesterday. It was a joy to worship and fellowship with you all and encouraging to hear from Ben. We are eager to see how we can continue to overlap and partner with Grace, particularly around the topic of creation care.
With deep appreciation,
Young-Ki

In light of the fact that Ben Lowe encouraged us to take care of God’s creation, Grace Fellowship Community Church is doing its part to help with preserving God’s world. Last December, we upgraded the church to the Super Green Level of Clean Power with PG&E. This means that our church is powered by 100% renewable energy.
In addition, all our plates, cups, napkins and utensils are compostable. (This is a reminder, after eating or drinking, to place the above into our compost bin.) Our communion cups are recyclable and should be placed in the recycle bin.
This Sunday, February 23 is our Love Feast
We invite you to share your favorite comfort food - jook, Campbell’s chicken noodle soup, mac ‘n cheese, beef stew, spaghetti and meatballs, rocky road ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, potato chips, etc…?
Clare Crawford will be sharing after the Love Feast
Given the new policies and feelings toward undocumented immigrants, Clare has graciously agreed to give us information, should we encounter an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer, about “Knowing Your Rights.” If you are interested in learning more, please plan on staying a little longer after the Love Feast.
Beyond 15 Minutes - Part 2, Thursday, February 27 at 6:00AM, Hosted by INFEMIT (International Fellowship for Mission as Transformation)
At the fourth Lausanne International Congress, the theme of justice was given 15 minutes. In a world fraught with unjust wars, genocide, forced displacement, poverty, human trafficking, corrupt leadership, and state-sanctioned abuse, we are compelled by the good news of Jesus to go “beyond 15 minutes.” Join us for the second part of this conversation on Feb. 27th from 1400-1530 GMT to envision together what it looks like to bear faithful witness to the gospel in these troubling times.

Let’s begin the Lenten Season by receiving the sign of the cross on our foreheads.

We Welcome Mark R. Charles to our Pulpit as Guest Speaker on Sunday, March 9, 2025
Mark R. Charles is a Native American activist, public speaker, consultant, and author on Native American issues, as well as a journalist, blogger and a Reformed pastor.
Mark Charles is the co-author of Unsettling Truths - The Ongoing, Dehumanizing Legacy of the Doctrine of Discovery. In this book, we are confronted with the idea that injustice has plagued American society for centuries. And we cannot move toward being a more just nation without understanding the root causes that have shaped our culture and institutions, in particular, the damaging effects of the "Doctrine of Discovery.
After the refreshment time, we will get an opportunity to hear more about Mark Charles’ work and ministry during an informal lunch. All are invited to attend.
Kristyn Komarnicki will be Visiting with Us on Sunday, March 16
Kristyn is the director of dialogue and convening at CSA (Christians for Social Action). The creator of our Oriented to Love dialogues about sexual/gender diversity in the church, Kristyn gathers Christians of different sexual orientations, gender identities, and theological convictions together so they can begin to know, understand, and love each other, in search of a unity that is deeper than agreement.
Kristyn will be worshipping with us and giving us an update on Oriented to Love (one of our ministry partners - Matt McDonell is our ministry liaison).
Church Lenten Retreat, Saturday, March 29
Grace Fellowship Community Church Banners are Featured in the CP (Cumberland Presbyterian) Magazine - Article Written by Irene Fong
“While visiting our San Francisco churches, I came across some beautiful banner art created by Irene Fong of [Grace Fellowship Community Church]. I asked Irene to share with us her journey in making the banners and their meaning. She chose three of the many banners that hang at Grace to share with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. For Irene, these banners represent a vision and calling regarding what God is doing in and through their church. Please enjoy hearing from her about her creative process.”
- Rev. Becky Zahrte - Director of Ministry with Women
