Every Saturday we have the joy of joining in the heart of Jesus by distributing food from the SF
Marin food bank to folks in our neighborhood who are experiencing food scarcity. In a city of
abundance, there is no reason why anyone should not have enough to eat! Currently we serve
nearly 135 people each week. Some of the participants are elderly, some young, families,
students, immigrants, some homeless...people from all walks of life!
● Each week the Food Bank drops off several pallets of food, including canned items,
fresh fruits and vegetables, some kind of protein such as chicken, eggs, meat or beans,
rice and other grains. Our volunteers help to unload the food and pack it into bags. We
then pass out the food to the participants. Finally, we clean up which includes flattening
all the cardboard boxes and crates in which the food and produce was packed. It is a
flurry of activity but is fun at the same time!
We start at 11:45am and are ready to go home
by around 2:45pm.
● If you would like to volunteer you can sign up here or you can come at 11:45am any Saturday.
● If you are in need of food, you can call the Food Bank at 415-824-3663, or you can
come to the Pantry after 1:30pm to sign up.
